Arts Agenda: Dance – Winter 2025

Each week, ArtsATL delivers a critic’s short list of the shows, exhibitions, concerts and events we recommend for the coming weeks within one discipline in the kaleidoscope of Atlanta arts and culture. Every week, we’ll present a different art form.

January 22-February 8

Constructing Dance: a play-filled celebration of the Art of Making Dances. Initiated by Core Dance, this project finds 40 dancers across 13 concerts. A partnership with DanceATL and Actor’s Express Theatre Company. Tickets: $20, with pay-what-you-can performances.

January 23-24

Stokes MVMNT’s Tête-a-tête at Factory Atlanta. This new movement art company led by Sarah Stokes creates physical, athletic and virtuosic choreography. Tickets: $25.

January 23 through April 20

Dance Lab at the High Museum. The High Museum’s innovative program allows visitors to watch dance rehearsals for free with Dance Canvas, Giwayen Mata, Full Radius Dance and Atlanta Contemporary Dance Company. Tickets: Free with museum entry.

January 25

The ImprOPERA’s Pagliacci at the Goat Farm. This watch party and variety show re-interprets the classic opera to include movement artists, poetry, drag, comedy, hip-hop and fashion. Tickets: $5-$7.

February 7-14

Atlanta Ballet’s The Rite of Spring at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. A world premiere of Stravinsky’s controversial early 20th-century modernist work, choreographed by Claudia Schreier. Being performed with 7 for Eight by Helgi Tomasson. Tickets: $28-$150.

February 12-16

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at the Fox Theatre. The legendary company brings several world premieres to Atlanta and will celebrate the company’s iconic dancer and former Artistic Director Judith Jamison. Tickets: $38.50 and up.

February 15-16

Atlanta Ballet 2’s The Swan Princess at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. A one-hour adaptation of the classical ballet Swan Lake for ages 4 and up. Tickets: $12-$72.

February 21

The State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine’s Swan Lake at City Springs. The classic Tchaikovsky ballet is being presented by Classical Arts Entertainment. Tickets: $55-$115.

February 26

Dance Canvas’ “Feed Your Senses” at the Rialto. The “Feed Your Senses” series features lunch-and-learn sessions with varied performing artists. Free.

March 15

Ballethnic Dance Company’s All the Way Live 2 at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center. A high-energy celebration of dance, music and fun. Tickets: $40-$45.

March 21-22

Dance Canvas at the Rialto. Two evenings of live performances featuring choreographers from this season’s Choreographer Career Development Initiative. Tickets: $29.40-$42.

March 21-23

Atlanta Ballet’s Coppélia at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. This full-length comic ballet was choreographed by George Balanchine in 1974 and last performed by Atlanta Ballet more than 20 years ago. Tickets: $28-$150.
