The Bakery Atlanta presents A Network of Autonomy in partnership with Emory’s Center for Ethics and  Ethics and the Arts Program. This group exhibition of visual and performing art emphasizes the social and environmental aspects that comprise reproductive rights, engaging with the complexities of reproductive justice in both personal and collective contexts. Artists Janelle Dunlap, Amber Rissman, Cecilia Rodriguez, Hiroko Kelly, Savannah O’Leary, Katy Beltrán, and Heather Bird Harris come together to remind us of what is lost when reproductive justice is viewed solely through the lens of the clinical.

Join us for the opening on March 20th. Performances will take place between 7:00pm and 8:00pm.

“Tethered,” created by Cecilia Rodriguez , visualizes the burden of disability through the manipulation of a physical installation, Constructed from repurposed clothes donated by the Dalton Little Theatre, this piece is performed by  dancers Maggie Harrison, Leah Lipshutz, Sofia Tovar, Marley Crosby, Choreographed and performed by Hiroko Kelly, “Sometimes hidden from me in daily custom and in ritual I live by you unaware” illuminates reproductive justice through the use of Japanese myths and legends, intergenerational themes, and societal expectation.
