Atlanta Freedom Bands marks 30th anniversary with concert

Three decades of music and pride come together as Atlanta Freedom Bands celebrates its 30th anniversary in concert. AFB’s Concert Band takes an epic trip to the final frontier with “Out of  This World!” — a program inspired by space and science fiction. AFB has commissioned a new work to mark the occasion from Dr. Erika Svanoe of Augsburg University in Minneapolis who will conduct the premiere. Dr. Svanoe’s piece, “Where no one has gone before,” is her homage to her favorite sci-fi franchise, Star Trek. Saturday, July 17, at the Church on Ponce and Highland,
located at 1085 Ponce de Leon Ave NE, Atlanta. The pre-concert presentation begins at
7 p.m. with the concert starting at 8 p.m.
