Atlanta Wind Symphony presents “An American Celebration”

Launching its 44th anniversary season, the Atlanta Wind Symphony presents “An American Celebration” on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at Milton High School Auditorium. The free concert is sponsored by Fulton County Arts & Culture.

Selections being performed:
• American Fanfare by James M. Stephenson – the concert band version of this spirited and energetic fanfare was commissioned and premiered in 2006 by The Air Force Band of Flight
• Chester by William Schuman ‑ a patriotic anthem from the American Revolution
• Elegy for a Young American by Ronald Lo Presti – written in 1964 and dedicated to the memory of President John F. Kennedy
• Instinctive Travels by Michael Markowski – a piece the composer describes as “incredibly infected by rhythm”
• Symphony for Band by Morton Gould ‑ also known as “West Point Symphony,” commissioned by the U.S. Military Academy for its 150th anniversary celebration
• Barnum and Bailey’s Favorite by Karl L. King ‑ a famous American circus march
